The “Dr. Jorge Villalobos Padilla, S.J.” Library is one of the largest in western Mexico. It has a general collection of more than 500,000 volumes, consisting of print and digital books, periodicals, audiovisual materials, maps, plans, theses, and more, as well as one of the region’s most important audiovisual collections, consisting mainly of arthouse films, documentaries, and academic videos.

The challenge for IHO was to provide high-density shelving that would allow for both access to and the safe storage of the library’s collections. The library sought a design that would be easy to maintain, made with top-quality materials, and that would promote accessibility. Safety was the top priority, with attention paid to every last detail in all aspects of ergonomics, layout, installation, and delivery times.
